Autonomous vehicles, or AVs, are transforming mobility with intelligent automation, improved safety, and elevated passenger experiences.
According to the SAE International J3016 standard, there are six levels of automation, from Level 0 (no automation) to Level 5 (full automation), each defining the degree of driver involvement required. Stay informed—explore the advancements shaping the future of autonomous travel.
ACRISS, we are enhancing our car classification matrix by developing new coding specifically for Autonomous Vehicles—focusing on Level 2 (partial automation) through Level 5 (full automation) as defined by the SAE standard. This marks the first addition of new codes to the ACRISS Car Classification System in over a decade, reaffirming our commitment to industry leadership and innovation.
Supporting the Environment with a look at New Alternative Fuels
As the automotive industry accelerates toward electrification, internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles will continue to be a significant presence for decades to come.
ACRISS explores alternative solutions to support ICE mobility, ensuring that existing fleets are not left behind in the transition. From sustainable fuels to hybrid integrations, we’re examining pathways that balance innovation with continuity.
We’re excited to announce the launch of Vehicle Features Coding, a new initiative designed to help our car rental members deliver richer and more detailed vehicle features data to their customers.
What’s Coming?
In the first phase, Vehicle Features Coding will include essential environmental data, such as:
EV Battery Range
CO₂ Efficiency Coding
This data will be distributed to our partners from the ACRISS Cloud using data from our own ACRISSCar Code List, ensuring accuracy and consistency across platforms. We're also aiming to incorporate both EV Battery Charging Times and CO₂ Efficiency Coding from the Car Code List as part of the initial rollout. Future plans include Safety, Tech and Comfort features.
Customisable and Flexible Car rental suppliers can choose to:
Use standardized data from the Car Code List for each vehicle model, or
Upload and manage their own data to better reflect unique fleet offerings
Exportable with Visuals All data can be provided and exported via ACRISS Cloud — including vehicle images, making it easier to present complete and visually rich information to customers. Our goal is to expand Vehicle Features to include further features to support car rental companies in providing additional information on vehicles and models available to rent.

Best Practices for Content
Improving Location and Policy content to enhance customer booking experience.
With the help of our members and Associate members we have been looking at ways of improving the current content offered through different platforms. Looking at friction areas and pain points for car rental companies as well as customer complaints starting with our recently published new Coverages and Insurance guide.
ACRISS goal was to created best practices for the industry to follow to enhance the customer experience and reduce friction point in both policy and location content with focus on the following:
More concise, well formatted and user friendly text
Avoiding abbreviations, duplications and confusing terminology
Including regional and regulatory content where needed
Clear direction and guidelines for key policy areas
New Coverages and Insurance guide available in different languages
Review of existing policy and location content, categories and fields to improve customer experience
Support car rental members in creating and updating content
ACRISS Cloud currently offers our members and non members the ability to distribute their car images and data records via ACRISS Cloud to all partners. We are looking to expand on this by offering our new Vehicle Features coding data with our partners and in the future adding location and policy content updates via ACRISS Cloud to facilitate both our car rental suppliers in their updates to multiple partners and also our partners with better processes and enhanced content.
